2018 Global Running Day!
Happy Global Running Day! Today is a worldwide celebration encouraging everyone to get out and move. Everyone has a different reason for running: de-stress, increase energy, weight loss, postpartum depression, staying fit, etc. Whatever the reason may be, it’s all about the individual and how running makes them feel. Did you know you can join a virtual race to celebrate Global Running Day between June 4 and June 10 at NYRR Virtual Global Running Day 1M? It’s free to sign up and to participate, you need a Strava account (which is also free).
Running has been an on and off activity for me. When I’m finally out and running, I love it and ask myself “why don’t I do this more often?” Finding time is one thing but if you think about it, we can all take 30 minutes to do something out of a 24-hour day. I am the queen of excuses when it comes to physical fitness for myself. However, reality had finally sunk in and I am no longer able to squeeze into my loose baggy shirts, I am no longer playing ice hockey 2-3 times a week and I am no longer a server at a restaurant which requires a ton of running around. Instead, I am 10 months postpartum with two children, married to a surgical resident who is always working, I eat when I remember to which means shoving junk food in my mouth when the kids are napping or distracted for a few minutes, and I can barely get myself and the kids dressed by 10:00AM. I am mentally and physically exhausted by the time the kids are in bed and the last thing I want to do is leave my partner who I haven’t seen all day to go out for a run. Plus, we all know the cleaning I shoved off to the side from earlier in the day for “later” is finally here and it isn’t going to clean itself. My life just over three years ago didn’t require two small children and a dog all under three years of age to depend on me.
Thanks to my partner who was willing to support me through my stroller purchases (even though he thinks I’m crazy), I went out and purchased a multi-sport stroller, mainly used for running with the kids and dog during the day. I have my kids with me all the time so the stroller with my kids and dog are my running buddies who all deserve some recognition on Global Running Day. Sometimes my toddler is screaming and crying because she doesn’t want to be sitting strapped in a stroller and other times she is napping away next to my 10-month-old who is also napping (if I’m lucky). I don’t run all the time but I’m trying to get out more often with summer around the corner. We all start somewhere right? It has helped me with my mental health and energy levels which is why I plan to continue down this path. Also, my partner is working in Victoria, BC for the month of June so it’s a bit hard to stay indoors with the beautiful ocean view.
I would love to hear what motivates you to go out and run (walk or get out in general). If you don’t get outside, what’s stopping you?

Solo parenting tips 101
With my partner off in London, UK for 5 days, I came up with a few tips and things to remember for solo parenting that I wanted to share:
- have zero expectations
- repeat to yourself “you can do it!”
- remember “a shower is a need, not a want” (like I said, these are MY tips…)
- imagine the light at the end of the tunnel. In particular, bedtime when the kids are sleeping and remember it’s all about you when they’re finally in bed
- ask for help and/or accept help if you have family and friends
-
Night five and last night solo parenting
It’s night five of solo parenting and I am so thrilled to have my partner back home tomorrow. I can’t say it was an easy five nights but taking it one night at a time helped. Here’s a recap of what we did while my husband left the country:
Day 1 (first evening alone):
- Drove to pick up an IKEA Kallax (4 square) unit from someone off craigslist (with screaming kids in the car for a 7 minute drive)
Day 2:
- Attended a NEXUS appointment for our youngest, Sloane who is the only member of the family who doesn’t have her card
- Bought a mini crib (which I am so excited about!)
- Spent the evening setting up the crib in the main room
Day 3:
- Parent participation preschool with Blake (and Sloane)
- During nap time, I managed to move our IKEA Kallax unit (8 square) out of our bedroom and set up a mini crib. If you have me on instagram (@twodegreeslater), you would’ve seen the mini crib fail photo I posted. If you didn’t see it, here it is:
Let me take a step back and talk about Sloane. Some of you must be wondering where she was during nap time if she normally sleeps in our bedroom. While she was nursing, I realized I had collapsed her pack n play (where she normally sleeps). While I had her attached to my boob, I managed to throw a bunch of blankets and towels into the tub with the mattress for the new crib into the bathtub to set up a somewhat safe and quiet environment for her to sleep in. She seemed quite content if you ask me.
- Who knew bathtubs were multifunctional? Let’s go back to the mini crib fail. Those edges on the crib that curved out screwed me and I had to take the crib apart to get it through the door. Yes, that’s right, the night before I assembled it. Then the next day I couldn’t shove it through the door frame so I had to dissemble it only to assemble it again in the bedroom. The important part is it was all set up before both kids were awake so I think that’s a mom win there.
- Two words: Sleep training. I’m not really sure why this was such a good idea at the time but I decided since the crib was set up in the bedroom for Sloane, I might as well give sleep training an attempt. Let me say that Sloane is a champ and I want to give it a couple weeks before I comment on any of it.
Day 4:
- Sold a few items thanks to Facebook Marketplace (mama’s gotta make some money, am I right!?)
Day 5:
- Gymnastics
- Grocery shopped (on a Saturday…)
- Attended a birthday party which we made it to after a nap! Sweet success!
I didn’t do a lot of crazy things these five days but I definitely got a lot accomplished with tidying up our home and selling extra items we don’t need around the home.
Here are my tips for solo parenting:
- have zero expectations
- repeat to yourself “you can do it!”
- remember “a shower is a need, not a want” (like I said, these are MY tips…)
- imagine the light at the end of the tunnel. In particular, night time when the kids are sleeping and remember it’s all about you when they’re finally in bed
- ask for help and/or accept help if you have family and friends
Miles, I’m ready for you to come home!

Today was my first out of five days solo parenting and here’s how it went…
Solo parenting isn’t new to me and I do it quite often considering I’m married. My husband works roughly 100 hours a week. He’s gone 12-14 hours during the weekday and if he’s not off on the weekends, he’s either at work or on call. Some days he won’t be home until after the kids are in bed. Even then, it’s not that bad because I usually know he’ll be home at some point.
Not this time. He’s gone for five days. 120 hours. 7200 minutes. 432,000 seconds… okay, you’re right. It’s not that bad at all. I guess I forgot to mention that the tail end of our Easter weekend involved gastroenteritis. Being childless and sick sucks but you get to sleep all you want. Being a parent and sick really sucks because you can’t sleep when you want because there are little people who need you to watch them every minute. You need to count down to nap time and oh wait, with two kids, one will finally be napping and the other one is still awake so you can’t take a snooze.
Let me recap what happened after my husband left this afternoon. Blake was inconsolable after her nap and nothing in the world would make it better— that is until the word “ducks” slipped out of my mouth. Have you seen Love Child love ducks? They’re like crack cocaine for toddlers. I swear every toddler loves them and if you have them at an outing, every toddler will find their way to you. Well, after some bribery, I managed to get Blake, Sloane and Loki out of the home to pick up a piece of IKEA furniture I found on craigslist while the kids were both napping. Yup, you read that right, they were both napping at the same time. Both kids were unhappy with the seven minute drive over to the pick up place and the dog was whining the entire drive because he thought we were going to the dog park.
Dinner was unsuccessful, ducks was the only thing Blake wanted to eat and Sloane wasn’t really interested in anything I offered her. One of my amazing friends, Sophie who lives a couple doors down was picking up pizza for her family and offered to grab us some cheese sticks. Of course we accepted and of course my crazy toddler took a bite and turned it down because she was full from all her ducks. Even though dinner was unsuccessful, I managed to get Blake down for bed (even if it was 20 minutes later than normal) so that’s a win for me! Both kids are sleeping now and I hope it stays that way until the morning. Even though my 8-month-old has not slept through a single night yet, I can keep dreaming about it. Well, one night down, four nights to go.
To the full-time single mom and dads, kudos to all of you because you do this every single day.

Flight preparation
We are flying to Palm Springs on Saturday and this will be the first time Blake will have her own seat now that she’s over 2 years old. Fun fact: when you book flights with WestJet, you can reserve your seats for FREE when you are traveling with children. Score! I’m trying to find information on free seat reservation with children and I am unable to find it. We were told it was free over the phone when we booked through WestJet MasterCard to use our points. The flight from Vancouver, BC to Palm Springs, CA is 2 hours and 51 minutes which seems short— if your child is quietly sleeping or sitting for the entire flight. The last time we flew with WestJet, they didn’t have screens available for inflight entertainment; I believe it is only available for longer flights. That means we need our own smart device and/or entertainment for the flight. I went to Your Dollar Store With More down the road and scored some goodies all for under $20. I bought:
- 6 – Play Pack Grab & Go (one not in photo) | $1 each
- 2 – Grab and Go | $4 each
- 2 – Stickerland books with 6 pages in each book | $1.25 each
- 1 – Sticker pack with 8 sheets | $1.25
I don’t plan on bringing all the Play Packs since I’m saving some for future outings like going out to restaurants or using them as back up in the diaper bag. Here’s what I plan on bringing:
- 2 – Grab and Go
- 2 – Play Pack Grab & Go
- 3 pages of stickers
In addition to sticker fun, we’ll be packing books and snacks with it all. I’ll update everyone on how successful or unsuccessful the stickers were after Saturday. Stickers, snacks, smart device, books, 2 parents, 1 toddler and a baby should be fine right?

Family Day in BC!
It’s Family Day in BC! Growing up, my family and I were usually working so we never really had a day off all together for holidays like Family Day. Now with children, I want to make the most out of our holidays. It was so nice to have my husband off work this weekend. He has a friend working in the city for a month so he joined us for Family Day. For anyone interested in joining or renewing a membership with the Vancouver Aquarium, memberships are 25% off between February 10-12, 2018. I wish I knew memberships went on sale when we bought ours last year! We purchased a two-year membership and ours didn’t expire until December 2018. However, we didn’t completely miss out— it turns out we were able to renew our membership super early with the 25% off! We extended our membership by another 2 years which means our membership doesn’t expire until February 2021. Plus, a free guest pass each year (with family and adult memberships) and a bunch of other benefits. You can’t really go wrong as long as you go a couple times each year. Shockingly, when we went to the Aquarium on the weekend, it wasn’t as crazy as we were expecting. On the other hand, it may be because we arrived during the morning.
What I CAN say is going to Grouse Mountain on Family Day 45 minutes after it opens is a bad idea. Sometimes leaving early doesn’t quite happen (I think kids, a dog and two sleepy adults might have something to do with it). When we pulled up to the parking lot, it was PACKED! The only available parking spots were down the hill and it would’ve been a 10-15 minute walk up the hill. Plus my husband didn’t have his annual pass for the mountain yet so it would be another long wait in the admission line, which we saw out the door when we were trying to find a parking spot. We ended up going out for breakfast at White Spot (of course after I ate a breakfast sandwich meal from Timmy’s thinking I wouldn’t eat for hours). Here’s a few things I learned this weekend:
* Vancouver Aquarium memberships go on sale and since our renewal, we are good until we move away
* don’t go to Grouse Mountain on Family Day (unless you like crowds)
* if Grouse Mountain is on the agenda on a holiday, arrive at least 30 minutes early to be safe
* White Spot restaurant is very kid friendly -
Blake is TWO!
It has been two lovely years with my daughter and we look forward to many more. It is amazing how quickly time goes by when we’re constantly busy. My mother-in-law (MIL) flew in from Calgary this weekend to join us for Blake’s birthday. Since Blake’s birthday is on a Monday, we decided to dedicate the weekend to birthday festivities. I won’t bore you with the details but here’s a summary of what we did:
* went out for breakfast (twice!) and lunch
* splash in some muddy puddles at Spanish Banks and throw the ball for our dog, Loki
* gymnastics at TumbleTown
* swim lessons at Aquaventures
* baked Blake’s cake
* Blake and Sloane participated in a UBC study at the UBC Centre for Infant CognitionWe don’t go out to eat very often and those with young children probably understand (or those who have seen children meltdown in public). Knowing we went out THREE times to eat— I’m feeling pretty good! Please pardon me as I do my happy dance:
For parents who live in Vancouver and surrounding area who are interested in something to do with their children, participating in the Early Developmental Research Group at UBC is fun! It is an activity that doesn’t require weekly commitment, they receive degrees and prizes, plus you’re contributing to research. At age 2, Blake already has her Post Doctoral degree and Sloane with her Bachelor of Arts at 6 months! More information can be found on their website.
We decided to keep Blake’s birthday low key this year. From all the moving due to the flood in the summer to Christmas holidays in Calgary during December, we wanted a little break. Blake had a great birthday weekend and she was showered with practical presents. Maybe next year we’ll go a little more extravagant for her birthday. Keep in mind, we still have Sloane’s 1st birthday in July to look forward to.

The story behind the socks
I’m a SAHM (Stay-at-home-mom) and I find some days quite challenging with two kids under age 2 and a dog. Some days, it isn’t going well for me at all and some days I feel like a rockstar. Okay, so:
* I know my shoe area is a mess
* I’m THAT person who has a collection of socks in a pile by the front door
* There are only so many times a day I can put shoes together nicely until I don’t give AF
* Yes, I have small feet for an adultMy 6-month-old, Sloane is at the stage where scratching her eyes and face is a fun game so mittens are a must on her little hands. Except she’s REALLY good at this game where she pulls them off and hides them on us. When those are hidden, I turn to socks. Can you see those cute baby socks in grey with a pink bow in the photo? Those were the “mittens” we were using which were last seen on the couch. My husband swore they were on the couch and didn’t move them. I searched everywhere and couldn’t find them. I found these at the end of the night when I was about to take the dog out. It turns out Blake, my toddler took them and placed them by the shoe area because she knows socks go with shoes.
Where am I going with this? Even though I find some days extremely challenging with 2 under 2, toddler tantrums and lack of sleep (and coffee); moments like finding socks by shoes are really rewarding. It means we taught our little person something and she might actually turn out alright after all.

Baby jail, baby jail, baby jail!
Our baby jail— I mean, North State Super Yard Gate has arrived! My friend, Sophie has one and after I saw it, I knew we needed one for Blake. I bought our Super Yard from Amazon.ca for $120 (original price of $150 at the time of purchase on September 24, 2016). I recently looked on Amazon to see how much it’s going for today and it’s $200! Wow! I usually shop around and look at prices for a while before I purchase an item and the Super Yard has always been around $150.
Blake has been army crawling around everywhere. She’s been pulling papers from the coffee table, going after the dog’s toys and water dish… basically getting herself into places I don’t want her to be. I needed something to keep her in a safe place while I was doing little things like going to the washroom for more than three minutes, getting myself dressed, laundry, making meals, the list goes on. It’s been a challenge prepping dinner in two minute intervals— Here I am, slicing raw chicken and I have my baby army crawling turbo speed to the dog’s water dish. Judging her speed and distance, I have 10 seconds to power wash my hands with soap and run over before there is water all over the place. Place her back on her play mat and do it again two minutes later. Now do this about five more times before the cooking begins.
Initially, when I was setting up the Super Yard, I felt really bad that she wasn’t going to be able to crawl freely around our place. Once I placed her in with all her toys, that feeling went away. She loved it! She went from army crawling to sitting and playing with all her toys. She has always been able to sit unassisted for a period of time but it seemed the second I placed her into the Super Yard, she was more interested in sitting than army crawling. Also, in the time we’ve had it, she has gone from sitting to crawl position and back to sitting position. Pretty exciting mom moment. I love this baby jail already! Milestones!

Work, work, work, work, work
We can work from home, oh, oh, oh oh. Thanks Fifth Harmony for your catchy Work From Home song. Blake figured how to army crawl last weekend and in a week, she’s already zipping all over the place. WE NEED TO BABY PROOF!
For those who have done their research, the Skip Hop Interlocking Foam Tiles is BPA, phthalate and PVC free— one of the best mats for your crawling baby. It turns out it doesn’t matter what foam tiles you buy your baby because she isn’t going to stay on it. Blake had enough crawling on her foam tiles and decided that her and her white shirt would go off exploring on the laminate floor. What’s wrong with that you say? We have a dog and his paws have been outside where it’s filthy. Then he comes home and walks all over the floor with them. How did we keep her shirt from turning black? The only thing I could think of using was a duster refill from my Swiffer by placing it under her as she pulled herself around. It worked so well! It kept her white shirt clean and she even cleaned the floors a little. Multi-tasking, now we’re speaking my language! Might as well put her to work early right?

Always use a Paper Towel
I take my dog, Loki to the park almost daily. We own an UppaBaby Cruz stroller which isn’t exactly a stroller you should be off-roading with or using on the bumpy park grass. For a few days, the rain was on and off. Walking from home to the park and back, the front wheels collected a clump of leaves. The first time it happened, the leaves clumped and fell off the wheel no problem. The second time, Miles picked off the leaves. The third time, I used my fingers and picked off the leaves— Except it wasn’t only leaves, it was dog shit with leaves stuck to it. It happened so fast a photo never happened. Next time I see leaves on the stroller wheels, I’m using a paper towel.

Wedding with a Baby
Last weekend, our close friends decided to tie the knot. It was a ceremony we would never miss. The wedding was picture perfect on the Pan Pacific roof top pool deck overlooking the Vancouver Harbour in Vancouver, BC. One problem, the reception started at 7:00pm and we’ve been trying to put Blake to sleep between 7:00-8:00pm. Initially, I had this “brilliant” plan to go home between the ceremony and reception to follow through on our night time routine— give Blake a bath and put her in her sleeper then return to the reception. I also had to let our dog, Loki, out which was another reason why I was willing to drive all the way home. Alternatively, we could give her a bath in someone’s hotel room and avoid driving all the way home. None of the two options ended up happening.
So what really happened? I gave our amazing neighbours, Sophie and Thomas, the key to our place to let Loki out throughout the night so we didn’t have to worry about him. I packed a washcloth, sleeper, Baby Banz Earmuff and Ergo Four Position 360 baby carrier and hoped for the best. The ceremony started at 4:30pm and Blake did really well through it. As soon as the reception came, she started to get fussy because it was her bed time.
I want to explain a couple things. First of all, I’m not a huge fan of breastfeeding in public because I find it uncomfortable unless we’re covered with a nursing cover, blanket or I’m wearing a nursing shirt. Second, Blake is at the point where EVERYTHING distracts her. She dislikes any cover while she’s eating and if there’s any type of distraction nearby, she’s going to turn away and check it out.
I had to leave the table a few times because she was not doing well and I desperately had to find a place to feed her—distraction free. Thank you Pan Pacific! For some reason, there was an unlocked vacant room not far from the reception. There I wiped her down with the washcloth, changed her into her sleeper and nursed her to sleep. Then I placed her in the baby carrier with her Baby Banz and went back to the reception. Wearing her in the carrier ended up working out really well. Although she had woke up a couple times throughout the night, she was comfy enough to instantly fall back asleep. Miles and I were able to dance and hang out with our friends until 1:30am. Wild! I know! If we ever have to go to a wedding reception again in the near future, I’m bringing a baby carrier, ear muffs, sleeper and washcloth.

Babies Remind Me of Kittens
Of course when baby’s develop and grow, they become more interactive with their surroundings. I’m happy to see Blake hitting milestones, grabbing and throwing whatever she can, wherever she can, but sometimes it makes certain tasks such as diaper changes really challenging.
Now I’ve never had a cat because I’m super allergic to them, but based on what I’ve seen cats do, this is what I think they would be doing. If I don’t hide the strings on the blinds, Blake is constantly grabbing and batting at them. My biggest fear with the strings is if she ended up wrapping herself around them.
On another note, since she figured out how to roll over, she has been constantly twisting her bum up during a diaper change— and we know what she can do with an exposed bum! If you don’t know what she can do, catch up and read The Poop Accident. Luckily, the door is next to the change station and we are able to wrap the blinds string around the door handle. A combination of her twisting and playful string playing remind me of kittens. Anyone else feel this way or is it just me?

The Poop Accident
Warning: The following content may contain strong offensive images and foul language. Viewer discretion is advised.
Some lucky parents can say this has never happened to them. Unfortunately, I’m not one of them. My 7-week-old baby at the time had a “little” accident. You’re already looking at the picture asking “How did this happen!?” Ohhhh, I’m about to tell you! Here I am, changing Blake’s 8th diaper of the morning and she let out a fart. First of all, she farted a lot and sometimes a little poop came out, nothing that couldn’t be saved (other than an exceptional time prior to this incident). This time, she farted, nothing… La la la, I’m doing my diaper change routine, holding her legs up in the air and then *squirttttttt!!!* the longest shart of shit go flying towards the wall and splashes everything around it (including in my mouth… no, I don’t want to talk about it). It was awful! It reminded me of a water gun under pressure. I had always wondered how her diaper got so full… that moment solved the mystery. Not only did her shit hit the walls, it hit the picture canvas on the wall stripping the ink off when I wiped it. Her shit dripped down behind the bookshelf to the baseboards and over extension cords. It was a mess! I quickly finished her diaper change and put her in the bassinet.
I tried to give the wall a good wipe with Lysol cleaning wipes and they didn’t do much. If you look closely at the second photo, you can see wiping it didn’t completely remove the shit. Did I mention we painted our walls on Christmas Eve? No? Well, we did. This accident took place three months later on March 29th. These walls were still fresh and new to me. Suddenly, Miles walks in (lucky me!) and he was able to help me clean the walls with a scrubby and combination of Lysol and dish soap.
Two days later, while Blake’s diaper was off during diaper change, without any warning signs or change in facial expression— not even a fart, Blake pees and it goes in my hair. It was an interesting week. In the future, if you ever get shit on your hands while changing a baby, just remember, it could be on your walls instead.

BreathableBaby Breathable Mesh Crib Liner
When you go into your baby’s room and see this…
You end up spending all night researching and reading reviews on the best crib bumpers there are and run to the store the next day to prevent the same thing from happening the following night. The crib bumpers/liners with the best reviews that satisfied what I wanted was BreathableBaby Breathable Mesh Crib Liner. I was able to find them at Babies “R” Us for $30. Initially, I wanted the Grey Safari with cute animal prints on it, but unfortunately (or fortunately!), they didn’t have any at the store, so I settled for White. I was telling my friend Maisy about my White colour purchase instead of the Grey Safari and she made a great point— it’s good to get white because the prints will distract baby from sleeping. I’m really glad I bought these crib liners to keep Blake’s limbs from hanging out of the crib; however, it isn’t very compatible my IKEA SUNDVIK crib.
It appears BreathableBaby Breathable Mesh Crib Liners were designed to fit cribs without solid ends. If you want to see an installation video on the crib liners and what they are suppose to look like on a crib without solid ends, click here. There are three places on the liner where you tie a string around a crib rail so the liner doesn’t fall into the crib. We were only able to use one of three ties on each liner because the ties were behind the solid pieces (see photos). Okay! So I read reviews on Amazon and Babies “R” Us and thought… there must be a better way to wrap this liner around the crib (that other reviewers hadn’t tried) and I’m totally going to buy the liner and try it anyways (knowing the cribs with solid ends didn’t have very good reviews with this liner). Well, after I bought them myself and tried it, there is absolutely no way to hack this crib liner to make it work well! I tried so many different ways to make it work and you can’t win with this.
- I tried to wrap the liner along the inside instead of the outside and it shortened the length of the crib way too much. Now when Blake squirms up to the end, her head bumps the solid ends.
- It didn’t matter where I started the crib liner, two gaps were going to be there and no matter what, Blake ended up finding it. I chose to start it on the end she doesn’t sleep at often and went from there. If you have a crib without solid ends, you shouldn’t get the open gaps like the two I have.
- Due to the lack of strings to tie down the liner, Blake has hacked it and can push the liner down with her hands and feet to see out.
In the end, it turns out it doesn’t matter what I do to help prevent her limbs from finding the gaps in the crib rails. It appears she’ll always find a way. Even if she’s asleep.

All or Nothing
There will be many, many times after a feed I try to burp Blake and I get nothing from her. Usually, I put her down after a minute of patting her back and if she ends up spitting up a little later, no big deal. First of all, the spit up milk in the picture doesn’t seem like a lot, but it’s because I was wearing most of it.
At 4:45AM this morning, she woke up for a feed and 11 minutes later, I tried burping her— nothing. That’s normal for us and I put her back in the crib. A couple minutes later I hear crying, I run over, pick her up and *burp!*, *splash!*. she brings up all the milk she spent the precious 11 minutes drinking. It’s all over her left arm (we are on our last clean sleeper), it’s down my back, my right upper leg, and knee down was soaked. Especially in between my toes. I had to close the bedroom door to prevent Loki, our dog from coming in to lick up sour milk. On the bright side, she was awake after this incident and I was able to change her super wet diaper.

Online Shopping Addiction
Does every new mother online shop or is it just me!? Lately I’ve been talking to other moms who have a child under a year old and many of us have an online shopping addiction. Since we’ve been in Vancouver, I have enjoyed driving less and enjoyed online shopping more. Who wouldn’t? You are shopping from the comfort of your own home— in bed, on the toilet, on the couch, while breastfeeding… you don’t even need to wear pants. It’s great! One noticeable difference from Calgary and Vancouver is the accessibility of big box chain stores. To name a couple, Walmart and Superstore, they are either on the outskirts of Vancouver, in Burnaby, Richmond or somewhere outside of Vancouver. Do you know how long it takes to pack up a baby, sit in traffic, find parking, go shopping and go home? Too long. A better idea, support postal services by allowing their employees to deliver your package to your front door.
If some of you have never heard of Ebates.ca, I highly suggest using it for online shopping. They may not have all stores you shop at but they have many. All you do is go to Ebates.ca, click through their site to the store you want to shop at (i.e. Well.ca), shop, shop, shop, and pay for your purchase. Then check your Ebates account and you should see some cash rewards from shopping. Each online store has a different percentage of what is given back of your total purchase. Personally, I like to make money any way I can. Why would I want to carry boxes of diapers to my home when someone else can? They’re getting paid for it. You are not alone when it comes to online shopping!

Mommy & Baby Yoga
I went to my first mommy & baby yoga class on Wednesday at Semperviva and I had mixed feelings beforehand. To most of us, yoga is about relaxing, discipline, meditation, and so on. I had previously attended a prenatal class with Teresa (instructor) and it was very different than your average yoga class. There was laughter, dancing, bum shaking, everything you didn’t expect from yoga. Every person I’ve met who has had Teresa as an instructor loves her and raves about her. She’s enthusiastic and great! I can see what the hype is all about. Teresa also teaches the postnatal yoga classes. I’ve heard from some people postnatal yoga isn’t great when you have your baby with you. I decided to try it out myself and it was amazing! This class is about you and your baby (if baby wants to join). This was the very first time in public where I didn’t feel the need to hide in a bathroom to breastfeed. Everyone around me was a new mom and they totally get it. Babies are sleeping. crying, nursing, everything you expect from a baby is in this room. You could be doing yoga or/and attending to your baby. It was all acceptable and no one was judging you. I think everyone needs to give mommy and baby yoga a try!
